Notes about Photographs:

All prints are hand made by Allan Csiky, except for specially ordered prints on paper stock larger than 16×20 inches (22” x 28” framed).

Larger prints are available by special order and will be quoted as requested. All prints are processed, mounted, and matted to meet museum archival standards. The guide for archival processing and presentation is Ansel Adams’ article on the subject, Instructions for Handling and Care of Fine Photographic Prints.

Materials are acid-free and are selected because they will last indefinitely when displayed or stored under most conditions.

Prints are delivered ready-to-hang, mounted and double matted, backed with full-size archival backing board and set into satin black metal frames with full strength glass. Glass with ultraviolet (UV) filtration qualities is available at extra cost, but is not recommended unless prints will be displayed under harsh lighting conditions (strong sunlight, for example). Non-glare glass is never used because it mutes the full tonal range of the print.

While black and white images are far more stable than those in color , no print can be guaranteed to survive extended display in direct sunlight, regardless of UV shielding. Fading of the image is likely, as well as deterioration of the paper base and mounting/matting board.

Mounting board and adhesive:

Prints are mounted and mats are cut from 4-ply Exeter “Gallery White” Conservation Board.Bonding is accomplished with Seal Archival or Kodak mounting tissue at between 180˚ and 190˚ in a press with an 18” x 22” platen to assure full coverage of 16×20 prints.
